PDX Contemporary Ballet

2017-2018 Season

Co/Activate

(v) Actively working together to create something greater than the sum of its parts.

Converge

(v) To come together and unite in a common interest or focus.

November 3rd-5th | N.E.W. Expressive Works

Configure

(v) To adapt or bring to form.

February 23rd-25th | N.E.W. Expressive Works

From form to body, Configure brings breath and animation to a sculpted series. Performed in the round as if viewing the pieces from all angles, this full length work tells the story of what it means to sculpt. Embodying the creative process, dancers mold and transform starting from raw materials to finished works of art.

The company is grateful to Michele Collier for making this performance possible. Some of the sculptures that inspired Configure will be on exhibit in the lobby during the performances.

In a grand payoff for both the audience and performers, PDX Contemporary Ballet and Northwest Piano Trio take the stage for a performance two years in the making. Compose will feature brand new choreography set to the world premiere of composer Clarice Assad's music, and the continuation of the groups' first collaboration: "Swing Shift" by Portland composer Kenji Bunch.
